  • Evaluation Report – A professional report with reflections on measuring impact and the ethical considerations behind your campaign.

You’re eligible if you’ve completed the CIPR Foundation, hold a UK degree (or equivalent), or have 2+ years’ experience in PR, marketing, journalism, or a related field.

Anne-Marie Lacey is a senior tutor at nesma and founder of Filament PR, a virtual agency providing consultancy and coaching to leading brands. As a Fellow of the CIPR and Chartered Practitioner, she brings extensive experience in crisis management, international trade fairs, and communications strategy. Anne-Marie combines practical industry knowledge with a passion for teaching, helping students develop the skills and confidence to succeed in their CIPR qualifications and professional careers.

Deb Sharratt

PR Expert

Deb is a Chartered PR Practitioner and award-winning communications consultant with over a decade of independent experience. She delivers CIPR qualifications and bespoke Influencer Marketing training with nesma, alongside teaching at university level.

With a strong track record across the public, private and third sectors, Deb brings strategic insight and hands-on expertise to every project. She is an active CIPR Council Member and co-chairs the Influencer Relations panel. A published blogger and passionate communicator, Deb enjoys helping professionals grow their confidence, skills and impact through creative, practical learning.

Unit 1: PR in Context – Research and Planning

Explore how public relations fits within the wider economic, social, and political landscape and understand where it adds value within organisations. You’ll learn to align PR planning with organisational strategy and develop research skills to support effective communication.

  • Practical challenges in PR practice and strategic planning frameworks
  • Conducting communications research and applying insights to planning

Unit 2: Content, Media and Engagement

Discover how to create and manage communications that truly engage. This unit covers audience behaviour, media relations, and the impact of technology on PR. You’ll gain skills in crafting ethical, compelling content and using storytelling to connect with audiences across multiple channels.

  • Principles of effective content creation and audience engagement
  • How individuals and groups respond to PR activities and messaging
  • Use of traditional and digital media, including social media strategies

Unit 3: Measurement, Evaluation and Professional Ethics

Focus on delivering PR campaigns with impact through robust evaluation and ethical practice. You’ll learn how to measure success against objectives, manage communications professionally, and navigate the legal and ethical responsibilities of PR practitioners.
What you’ll learn:
  • Tools and techniques for measuring and evaluating PR campaigns (including AMEC guidelines)
  • Linking objectives, content, and evaluation to demonstrate organisational impact
  • Understanding the roles of consultancy and in-house PR professionals
  • Applying legal, ethical, and professional standards, including the CIPR Code of Conduct
