Course leader

Karen Barrie

I’ve spent my career in marketing and communications across various sectors, from managing internal communications at Durham University to leading direct marketing at Parkdean Resorts and database management at Newcastle Building Society. My journey started in publishing, where I sharpened my proofreading skills and learned the art of effective communication. Having completed my CIM studies locally, I know firsthand the value of learning alongside others and the inspiration it can bring. Now, while taking a career break to focus on family and volunteer at my local Foodbank, I’m thrilled to tutor at nesma, helping others build their skills, confidence, and a practical understanding of marketing that delivers real results.
